Acne psychological problems

I was under the impression that acne was just a skin problem but I just saw over at Acne News that there is an acne psychological problem called acne Dysmorphia.

This is not technically a physical condition caused by acne, but it is a mental condition. This can be a very debilitating illness that may show up with someonewho has a preoccupation with deformity. In this situation the person is totally preoccupied with acne. They believe that their acne is horrible and that their skin is awful, when in actuality it may not be all that bad. They are often preoccupied by checking themselves in a mirror and obsessively checking on their skin flaws.

Billions of people have acne outbreaks, but these people are unable to deal with it. In fact, this disorder has nothing to do with acne. This disorder is also related to anorexia nervosa. In anorexia, weight is a trigger; in acne dysmorphia, acne is a trigger. These people are obsessed with their skin and it is not unusual for this type of person to continuously look in the mirror and obsess about their skin.

Acne dysmorphia has been successfully treated with serotonin reuptake inhibitors as well as hypnosis. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a psychological treatment for depression related disorders. Group therapy sessions with people who suffer from similar problems have allowed people to relieve themselves from the obsession that they suffer from. People with this condition have also been treated with antidepressants and other medications.

Do you have problems like this with your acne? I know that I never did but it is something to watch out for. Go over to the Acne News site and check out their other stuff, it is a really great place.

Study finds that acne sometimes doesn't go away

A new study by a dermatology group find that for many people acne in adolesence does not seem to go away as we enter adulthood. Even more of a reason I guess to stay away from thinking that this is all hormone driven and to try instead to find the best acne treatment

Study participants were randomly selected from patients in waiting areas of various outpatient services at the university hospital. The survey yielded 1,013 questionnaires with complete data.

Overall, 73.3% of participants reported having a pimple or acne at some time. With regard to teenaged acne, 68.5% of male patients and 66.8% of females reported having had acne as a teenager, a difference that was not significant.

A significantly greater proportion of women than men reported being affected by acne after their teens. The percentage of patients reporting acne during that decade of life was:

    * 20s: women 50.9%, men 42.5% (P=0.0073)
    * 30s: women 35.2%, men 20.1% (P<0.0001)
    * 40s: women 26.3%, men 12% (P<0.0001)
    * 50 and older: women 15.3%, men 7.3% (P=0.046)

A separate part of the survey dealt with issues specific to women. Among premenopausal women, 62.2% said their acne worsened around the time of menstruation. Of 86 women who reported using hormone replacement therapy or other treatments for menopausal symptoms, nine (10.5%) said the treatment improved their acne.

Discussing the findings and implications of the research, the authors stated, "Recognition of the prevalence of acne among the adult population has led to closer study of the characteristics that might differentiate adolescent from postadolescent acne."

A diet that actually works?

Low Fat Foods DON'T WORK.

You cannot lose weight using Low Fat Diets.  Low fat foods have been
popular for more than 15 years, but yet our society is getting more
overweight as each year passes.  This fact alone should tell you that
eating a purely low fat menu is not the answer to losing weight.

Low Calorie Diets DON'T WORK.

You won't lose weight using a Low Calorie Dieting Plan either.   In
fact, eating low calories is the worst thing that you can do to your
body, since that will only slow down your body's fat burning engine and
ruin all chances of losing weight (low calorie diets may allow a few
pounds of weight loss for the first few days, but then after that all
weight loss comes to a halt --- known as a dieting plateau).   You can
never get slim by starving yourself.

Low Carb Plans DON'T WORK.

You'll probably find it extremely difficult to get slim using a Low Carb
Dieting Plan.  Low carb diets have recently become popular over the last
couple years, but the problem with low carb menus is that they are too
strict and TOO HARD TO FOLLOW for average people.   Low carb menus tend
to rob your body of too much energy (carbohydrates) and make it nearly
impossible to remain on the program for very long.  This is why so many
dieters find it difficult to follow a strict low carbohydrate menu.

What about Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig Dieting Plans?

Weight loss programs such as Weight Watchers (and Jenny Craig) usually
involve slower dieting progress over a longer period of time, since such
programs generally promise only 2-3 pounds of weight loss per week.
Also, programs such as Jenny Craig usually involve buying special meals
and/or dietary supplements during the initial phases of the program.
While some people may like these types of dietary programs, we prefer a
dieting plan which focuses on faster weight loss, such as the
Accelerated Fat Burning Program shown below...

Cleaning up to prevent acne

There are a few ways to prevent acne and one of the best that I know of is to keep your face clean and clear.

It is pretty easy to prevent acne keep your face clean. First of all never touch your face, your hands are dirty and you do not want that bacteria all over your face.

Next prevent acne by washing your face with a nice clean soap. Do not get any soap with any extras and in fact glycerine soap is probably the best. Wash your face with this glycerine soap twice a day, morning and evening.

Wash your face with clear water. Clear water is just that, do not use soap but instead run water over your face a few times a day to get rid of oil but do not bother using soap. The worst thing for you is to dry your skin and using water will just get rid of excess oil without drying out your skin. Always always pat your face dry and do not ever wipe with teh towel as this can hurt your skin as well.

Use creams in the evening but not during the day. This is a tip that will help most people prevent acne but it all depends on how oily your skin is but if you do have dry skin you will want to make sure that your skin is nice and moist, not dry and lots of creams these days will really dry your skin. Again dry skin is going to make your acne worse becasue it will cause your skin to break out badly.

If these tips do not significantly help you out then it may be time to take matters a little farther. There are lots of great products out there for curing your acne and one of the best is Acnezine. Acnezine is a all natural product in pill form that also comes with a cream that you can apply. Gurantees are everywhere with this product so definitly check it out and see how well it works for you

Lose weight by eating lots of food

The title says everything doesn't it. The fact is that most people eat food completly the wrong way. The best way to eat is to split up your meals really well and then be sure to eat them at the right times. Here is a list of things that oyu should think of when eating your daily food

Gather up all of your food

Make a list ofr a couple of days of all of the food that you will eat in one day. The best way to do this is to write down everything whether it is snacks, meals, gum, water, everything that goes into your mouth.

Split up everything that you eat into six meals

Now that you have a list try to get a calorie counter and aplit the size of your food into six even sized meals. Make sure that these meals are around the same size for carbs, protein and fat. There is no reason to have a meal of an apple and two oranges, or a meal of just a piece of steak. Try to keep these meals as close to normal portion meals as possible but recognize that they will all be small.

Drink a big big glass of water first thing in the morning

Water is a great pick me up in the morning. Try to drink two or three normal sized glasses of water within the first 15 minutes of waking up and then space up the rest of your water throughout the day. When you have lots of water to start the day it will force your body to increase your metabolism and then you will be starting to burn calories immediately

Space out meals throughout the day

Now that you have six evenly sized meals start to eat them once every 2 to 2 and a half hours. This means that you have breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as three snacks. The real advantage to eating this way is that it will help you increase your metabolism and stop your body from think it is starving.

Tweak your meals

There are a few things that you can do to fix your eating but now at least your body will be good with the way that you eat. Now you can start to fix your diet. Try to increase your protein intake somewhat and decrease your carbohydrates somewhat. Don't get crazy about it but you will be happoer with your weight loss with the higher protein percentage as long as you are not starving your body of carbs.

I hope that this way of losing weight by eating lots of food will help you. I can tell you that it has helped me a lot.

Do you want to lose weight even more quickly? I know of a great page that has a few tips for losing weight as well.

Green tea weight loss pils

There are lots of wegiht loss pills on the market and most of them do a few things. The common weight loss product uses an ephedra derivative, Ephedra remember is banned, and the thing that they have is usually Ma Huang. The other thing that weight loss pills have is a buffer. A buffer is a product that stops you from having the shakes when your body is all revved up from the Ephedra. Ususally a diet pill will have a buffer of an aspirin derivative like Willow Bark.

There is a new kind of product on the market for weight loss pills and that is Green Tea based weight loss pills. The real advantage with Green Tea is that it not only increases your metabolism naturally and efficiently with no side effects but Green tea is also good as an appetite supprosent so you just really do not want to eat.

The real problem that I have run into is the flood of Green Tea proudects on the market and the lack of these products to have any quality control in the type or amount of Green Tea that they actually have. There are a lot of products, most acutally, that have nearly no green tea compared to even drinking a cup of green tea.

Are you interested in losing a little weight or even losing a lot of weight. I would suggest buying a green tea based product like Avatrim? Avatrim will help you with your cravings as well as help you lose weight by giving you more energy. There is a fantastic Avatrim Review that you can read right now before you even think about buying this product
